This site is dedicated to the birds of the Pacific Northwest… and beyond. The site showcases many of my photos and observations relating to birds and occasionally other aspects of nature. While many of the photos will have been taken in my own yard (Anacortes, WA), there will be others taken in Skagit County (WA) and on trips through the western US.
My wife and I maintain our surroundings to attract birds, offering water, food, and safe shelter. I’ve landscaped the yard specifically for bird photography and will be happy to share my ideas for habitat enrichment and answer any questions you might have.
The prospect of having to pay for blog space prompted me to perform a search to find a more hospitable blog site. If you are one of the people who visited my previous site (Birds of Different Feathers) on Blogspot, I welcome you to this new site!
Beginning in late April, 2013, I began using a Nikon D7100 (24mp) instead of the Nikon D300S (12mp) that I previously used. Both cameras were used with my Nikkor F4 200-400mm lens. So any photos you see posted from May, 2013 on were taken with the D7100.
In August, 2015, I finally discovered how to allow interested parties to sign up for notifications that I have issued a new blog post. By entering your email address in the box at the bottom of this page you will subscribe to my blog and be notified by email each time I issue a new post.
If you have a legitimate, relevant question that I can answer I’ll try to respond. Many of you know me and have my email address so you can contact me concerning the site by using my email address.
